Many of Aleppo’s elderly people are most affected by the consequences of the conflict in Syria. With young people escaping military service and families leaving Syria to build a new life elsewhere, many elderly people are alone. Those who are sick and cannot leave their homes are housebound, since institutions such as nursing homes barely exist in Syria. Many with disabilities and limited mobility are struggling to survive without the help of family members. That is why we ask for your help to enable us to increase our support for the elderly, disabled and other vulnerable Christians with food, clothing, medicines and accompaniment. ACN is supporting a project, called “Bite of love”, run by the charitable kitchen of St Youssef Church, in Damascus, which aims to provide cooked meals to 300 of the poorest and most needy elderly people for the next year. Meals are delivered to elderly people who are unable to leave their homes. With €240, you will be providing a cooked meal three (3) times a week to an elderly person in need for one (1) year.
